I’m excited to release the single ‘Hands On My Hips’, a track of my upcoming debut album ‘Burn So Bright’ (Nov 2021). The single ‘Hands On My Hips’ features Steve Wickham (The Waterboys) on fiddle.
I wrote ‘Hands On My Hips’ in October 2018. The song is about feeling disconnected and not caring about the world as long as I get to be close to the people I love. It’s funny that the world changed in the way it did, and that as a result I did not get to be close to the people I love.
Now that the world is slowly starting to open up I can finally hug my friends again. I can finally play with my band again! And I have a Dublin headline show in Whelan’s on January 31st 2022 to look forward to. I can’t even describe how it makes me feel.
Anyway, we’ve reached the end of one tunnel. I’m sure there’s more to come, but we’ll get there. x Jane
lyrics
This river runs on
And this world turns the sky
Now this all came to be
But I don’t care to know just how or why
The distance we cross
The width of our dreams
And this passion that guides
Don’t mean anything to me
Turn the world in your hands, let it burn or let it fly
Doesn’t matter to me, if it lives or if it dies
But put your hands on my hips, hold my body, chase my mind
Take your hands off this world and just put ‘em back on mine
Put ‘em back on mine
Put ‘em back on mine
This justice that speaks
But never comes to be
Your heated exchange
Oh this hopeless world it amuses me
Oh try if you must
See if I’ve will left to fight
Offer one-sided claims
Your account of what is wrong and right
Turn the world in your hands, let it burn or let it fly
Doesn’t matter to me, if it lives or if it dies
But put your hands on my hips, hold my body, chase my mind
Take your hands off this world and just put ‘em back on mine
Put ‘em back on mine
Put ‘em back on mine
This river runs on
This river runs on
This river runs on
This river runs on
Oh this river runs on
Oh this river runs on
Oh this river runs on
Oh this river runs on, on, on
